What is the best way to promote or advertise my invention? Do I have to spend a lot of money on it?

Going to trade shows, farmer's markets, getting popular websites (blogs) to write reviews about your invention, press releases. You can always get investors (I'm thinking of the show Shark Tank) who, with their connections, can help you scale your company by helping with the distribution and manufacturing of your invention/product!

To start you off, a lot of inventors use television infomercials. This avenue is often dismissed as a joke by many serious inventors, but there is a wealth of potential to taking advantage of the television infomercial marketing machine. Looking at an invention like the SnuggieTM, and the enormous profits that have been made off such a simple and seemingly trivial invention illuminates the possibilities of television marketing and sales. While your invention may not be a “gag-gift” sparking such a phenomenal cultural trend, but many brilliant inventions have gained exposure and a foothold in the national market through infomercials.
